In the case of import of live animals, quarantine conditions are applicable under paragraph 26(41) of Import Policy Order, 2015-2018.

Again, as per paragraph 26(44) of the Import Policy Order, one day old chicks (HS Heading 01.05) are importable provided the importer fulfils the following conditions:

(a) Submit to Customs a certificate issued by the authorized officer of Livestock Department of the exporting country stating that the importable chicks are free from contagious disease; 

(b) Submit to Customs a certificate issued by the World Organization of Animal Health stating that the exporting country is free from Avian Influenza

(c) Submit to the Bank, prior to opening of L/C, a certificate from the Directorate of Livestock that he has either a hatchery or a breeder farm.
