What actions do Customs authority usually take if imported food is found not fit for human consumption or it is already expired?

If the imported food item is found not fit for human consumption or its edible life or shelf life is expired, Customs will not release the goods, and instead will adopt appropriate procedures aiming to dispose of the consignment through the adoption of standard destruction and disposal procedure.
