What are the conditions that an importer needs to fulfil to import one day old ‘Chicks’? (HS code 01.05)

As per paragraph 26(44) of the Import Policy Order, 2015-2018, an importer must fulfil the following three conditions in order to import one day old chicks:
(i) A certificate issued by the authorized officer of the Department of Livestock of the exporting country, to the effect that the importable chicks are free from contagious disease must be submitted to Customs;
(ii) A certificate issued by the World Organization of Animal Health to the effect that the exporting country is free from Avian Influenza must be submitted to Customs; and
(iii) The importer must submit to the bank, at the time of opening the L/C, a certificate from the Director or an authorized officer of the Directorate of Livestock that he has either a hatchery or a breeder farm.
